One of the first steps in doing so is ensuring that you have filled out all the boxes and created a Twitter profile that is optimized for drawing in as many people as possible. Here are some tips for building an effective Twitter profile:
- Equip your profile with images. Be sure that you have a profile picture and a cover photo. And ensure that the photos you choose are up-to-date, high quality, and in line with your branding, so as to be easily recognizable. For profile pictures, it may help with brand recognition to use the same image across social media channels. Try to use images that are correctly sized- Twitter recommends profile picture dimensions of 400×400 pixels, and cover photo dimensions of 1500 x 1500 pixels. You can use online photo editing tools like Pixlr or Canva to create and/or edit these images.
- Make sure all the fields are filled out. Choose a handle and username that match your company or brand name and are consistent with your name across other social media channels. The handle will be included in your unique Twitter URL, whereas the username will appear next to your profile picture with all your tweets.Fill out your location and add a link to your website to add legitimacy to your account (and to drive traffic to the site).
- Craft your bio. Your twitter bio is extra important, as it will be used as the meta-description in Google search results.
